Malawi Slave Routes and Dr. David Livingstone Trail is part of the Tentative list of Malawi in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Malawi Slave Routes and Dr. David Livingstone Trail represent several slave trade routes and Livingstone’s missionary response to that. The slave trade was introduced here in the 19th century by Swahili-Arab traders. Tangible monuments include churches, graves and the site of a slave market.
